Lina’s Journey
Lina Abdulkarim is a Palestinian American children’s author and healthcare professional with a rich and diverse background. Born in Jerusalem and raised in the United States, she earned a degree in healthcare from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and worked in MRI before stepping away from her career to embrace the fulfilling role of a stay-at-home mother. That path eventually led her to reinvent herself as an author, channeling her passion for storytelling into creating meaningful books for children.
Her debut book, It Could Have Been Me, was recognized as an Editor’s Pick by Booklist, praised by Kirkus Reviews as “a compelling and empathetic introduction to displacement and mutual aid,” and longlisted by the Palestine Book Awards. Lina’s stories are rooted in real events, blending truth and imagination to spark empathy, resilience, and thoughtful conversations between children and adults alike.
Her love for travel has taken her to many parts of the world, including calling Dubai and Switzerland home. She finds inspiration in nature, enjoys hiking, cooking, and exploring new places, and is deeply committed to creating uplifting narratives that resonate across generations.
